Finished CW

The thing that makes this movie unique is that most people would assume this a film about tragedy and loss, but it's not. It's a movie about 'remembering loved ones and not pushing people away.
Although it's a teen movie and therefore aimed at teenagers, it also aimed at people dealing with grief from losing a loved ones. This trailer is targeted at female audience who enjoy serious issues portrayed in different ways than they are  normally shown. The posters also target different groups of people. The way it targets female is the drinks poster and the mosaic poster but the car poster and the drinks poster also targets males.  All the posters that are created are aimed at teenagers.
Background music sophisticatedly shows how the characters are feeling throughout the trailer. At the beginning of the trailer the song is 'Friends' by The Carters. This shows their happy, fun and care free life. One line in the song talks about how friends never let you down. This is juxtaposed with what actually happens in the film as they end up blaming the main character. The song 'How To Save A Life' sung by The Frey shows the depressing lives they all lead after the crash. The line referring to losing someone due to bitterness foreshadows the characters realisation that in difficult times they need each other. The layering of diegetic and non-diegetic sound within the trailer shows how the characters have multiple problems piling up to deal with.
The trailer subverts many stereotypes like the tragic car crashes. Normally, it tears apart a family in most movies, not a group of friends. As well as that, typically more than one person dies. For a teen movie there are no main male characters which challenges the ideas that girls need boyfriend to be happy. It also has a much darker undertone then what you would expect in a coming of age trailer.
The photo poster has intertextual referencing to the Truman Show, which is also a film about coming to grips with reality and discovering what is actually important.
The mise en scene within the trailer regarding props, like the bottle of vodka and the guitar, shows realistically how people cope with problems. Whether it’s drinking or creating music, every way is important and quite serious, although the music will not cause harm the drinking problem could.
The chalkboard font shows how the characters are still young and still have much to learn. The zooming in text shows how quickly things can change and zooming out of the text shows how quickly everything can leave.
The editing of the fades within the audio and video contradicts the way their friend left their lives. She left them very abruptly which is completely different to the slow fades and rises of the videos and audio. The trailer was made for youtube so it can be streamed and shared across social media.
